CHRONIC PAIN HERO: Exercise Supports Body's Defenses
Against Chronic Pain Flareups

The last thing you probably want to do when you suffer with pain is to exercise.  Research has shown though, that exercise can help the body actually build up buffers that can help pain toleration and recovery time from pain flairups.  Our bodies are magnificent machines, wonderful works of nature and when tuned properly, capable of performing for many years of enjoyable life.  When you suffer from chronic pain or any kind of pain, our finely tuned machine is indicating that there is something not quite right with the workings.  The nerves do their job.  They send the pain signals to the brain and the brain in turn makes the related body part or parts hurt.

Some say pain is the bodies way of letting you know you have gone to far.  Really?  So what is pain that doesn't go away?  Is that when we have gone to far, come back and then gone again?  Okay, just adding a touch of humor because laughter is one of the best medicines that we have available to us and it's free.  Free like so much of the information I provide on this site to help us all live a less pain filled lifestyle.  That's what this is really all about, living a healthier, happier, less pain filled lifestyle.

So much goes into living a "lifestyle".  The related accessories are needed to fill in the various roles that we occupy as we work to live our lifestyle.  Clothing, shoes, food, books, equipment, electronics and more are all apart of many people's lifestyles.  They were part of our lifestyles before we became combatants with chronic pain and pain flareups.  They are part of our lifestyle while we fight the pains and they will probably be part of our lifestyle after we have defeated the chronic pains and flareups we are fighting now.

Keeping our bodies and minds in the fight requires us to keep our bodies and minds healthy enough and fit enough to take on the fight.  Exercise is one way of doing that.  Building muscles, improving circulation and respiratory function help fight off pains effects as our bodies are able to use it's built in mechanisms to help us tolerate our pains.  The more air we can breathe in the richer our blood supply as it carries needed oxygen to the cells trying to regenerate the muscles and nerves in our bodies.  Keeping the bodies chemicals flowing strong as they enrich pathways for our nerves and help our bodies tissues heal faster is an important part of pain management.  There are many different ways to exercise and strength training is one of them.

Bodylastics provides us with a low impact way to strength train.  The bands come in various resistance levels so we can start of slow and work our way up.  For those who don't want to work their way up to being Miss or Mr. Olympia, you can simply use the lower resistance bands as a constant source of resistance to maintain your strength and help keep you fit and physically ready to fight back against your pain flareups.

However or whatever you decide to do with the bands, everytime you use them you are moving yourself one step closer to being able to better tolerate your chronic pains and your pain flareups.  As that famous saying goes:  "Just do it".
